today was a big day

Here's what happened:
Jet fell down an entire storey.
We bought a leash and harness at Walmart and took the kitties for a walk.
Bighead and I decided to be Calvin and Hobbes for Halloween.
I got "swine flu".
We have this railing thinger at the top of our stairs. A few weeks ago, Jet found that he can jump up there and chill on the railing. It's pretty cute until it becomes dangerous. This morning he took a running leap to the railing and missed. He fell off, all the way down to the first floor. I was freaked out beyond belief, but he landed on his feet and just wandered off. He isn't hurt or stunned. He's running around and being all Jet-like. Guess he lost one of his nine lives today...
We've been toying with the idea of buying the cats a leash for awhile. They're desperate to get out, but we live at the intersection of Big Street with Lots of Traffic #1 and Big Street with Lots of Traffic #2. So... not such a good idea. But, anyway, today we went out for lunch and on the way back bought a leash and harness.
At first, Jet did not like that I was trying to strap him into this thing and struggled a little. But then he just became limp and started purring, so I clipped him in and took him outside. We went out back first so nobody would see if the idea just failed, but eventually we went out front and had a bunch of people fawning over him. At first he was kind of like "...what?", just sniffing everything and flopping down on the ground, but by the end of it he was galloping around and exploring everything.
Eventually Hank started meowing at us from inside the house, so we brought Jet in and tried to put Hank in the collar. We didn't want to harness him in because we thought that would freak him out. The collar freaked him out, actually. It had a bell on it, which he hated. So I cut off the bell and put on the collar, then clipped the leash on and took him out. Hank was so UNSHY! It was really surprising. He went straight for this huge jungle of weeds we have and just dove in. Eventually he managed to get out of the collar (it was stretchy), but Bighead grabbed him and brought him inside. Next time he can go in the harness or stay inside, I guess.
Anyway! I was so caught up in the cute that I neglected to get pictures, but I should have some within the next few days. Maybe even a video? Who knows.
I mentioned that Nicole wanted to be Harry Potter for Halloween, and Bighead and I got to thinking about our costumes. When I was 3 I was an adorable tiger, and I kind of wanted to revisit it. Then I was like, "ARMAGAD CALVIN AND HOBBES!!", and Bighead agreed. So, I am going to be Hobbes (obviously), and he will be Calvin. Brilliant, y/y?
I was feeling fine this morning and up until about... 4 or 5. I went swimming, walked a lot, hung out with the kitties outside, went to the mall to buy the harness, etc. And then suddenly I had a sore throat. And awhile later, I had a dull headache and a stuffy head. And now I am just feeling gross. One minute I'm like ARGH I AM SO HOT MAKE IT STOPPP and then the next it does stop and I'm shivering uncontrollably.
My dad was like, "lol u have swine flu!!!111~~", and I just dismissed it, but... who knows. I looked up the symptoms. Let's see:
The typical symptoms are:
* a sudden fever (a high body temperature of 38°C/100.4°F or above), and [YES]
* a sudden cough. [NOT YET BUT WHENEVER I HAVE A SORE THROAT I END UP WITH A TERRIBLE COUGH]
Other symptoms may include:
* headache, [YES]
* tiredness, [YES]
* chills, [YES]
* aching muscles, [NO]
* limb or joint pain, [YES]
* diarrhoea or stomach upset, [LET'S NOT DELVE TOO DEEPLY INTO THIS BUT YES]
* sore throat, [YES]
* runny nose, [NO]
* sneezing, or [NO]
* loss of appetite. [YES]
So, obviously it could be any number of things, but I wouldn't write off swine flu. :P And yes I am aware of the dangers of self-diagnosing, especially with the help of the internets, but, you know, just seeing if it's possible. Either way I'm not freaking out. This has three possible outcomes: 1) I don't have swine flu. Yay. 2) I do have swine flu and I will live. Woo. 3) I do have swine flu and I will die. Boo.
ALSO P.S. I KNOW THE LAYOUT IS KIND OF HARD TO READ AND I WILL FIX IT WHEN I FEEL LESS LAZY :D
